It is our intention that the applications would be made in writing on a form and that supporting documents would be lodged. Given the advances in new technology and the fact that, even within the Parliament and the Executive, we are encouraged to fill out forms electronically, why have you chosen to exclude such forms of communication in this instance?

Ken Macintosh raised the issue of consistency and not setting Jackie Baillie apart from any other proposed convener. I appreciate that I am a new member of the committee, but in future proposed conveners should be asked to come before us to answer briefly questions on some of the points that have been raised.
