Comataidh Craolaidh Gaidhlig is considering options for television news and current affairs following its decision on Telefios. There is already a Gaelic news service on BBC Radio nan Gaidheal, which will now be available on the Internet.

The Universities and Colleges Admissions Service reported yesterday that the number of applicants from Scotland admitted to universities in the United Kingdom was 2.6% higher than at the same point in the admissions process in 1999.

To ask the Scottish Executive why the total number of premises inspected for fire prevention purposes by the fire service fell from 66,477 in 1994-95 to 55,709 in 1998-99.
To ask the Scottish Executive what advice it has offered to bodies delivering a public service in relation to Article 10 of the European Convention on Human Rights.
A working group, Chaired by Trevor Jones, General Manager of Lothian Health Board, is developing a full business specification and taking forward consultation with the service. I expect the group to report back me by the end of the year.
The additional resources made available by the Executive, together with local efficiency improvements, are sufficient for the NHS to meet the costs of service developments and pay and price increases.
