Official Report Meeting date: 15 December 2005

Plenary, 15 Dec 2005

If Mr Harper wishes to pursue the issue with Lothian Buses, he can do so, but he seems to miss the point that we invest considerably in travel support for students—not just mature students but students generally—with the funding that we apply through my colleagues in the Scottish Executive Enterprise, Transport and Lifelong Learning Department.
Official Report Meeting date: 8 December 2005

Plenary, 08 Dec 2005

Can he confirm that the Executive continues to urge and assist local authorities to recycle and compost more of their municipal waste? I confirm the last point. We have at present a target of 25 per cent for next year, but we have to raise the game and push towards 40 per cent.

Plenary, 08 Dec 2005

I know that Ken Macintosh and, indeed, Des McNulty have been diligent in taking up issues in that regard, as indeed has the trade union Unison. Is he further aware that I support in principle the replacement of the current procedures with more streamlined ones, but not at the risk of delaying proposed schemes? I take Mr Gordon's point. He sounds like an eminently sensible character to have on the Procedures Committee, but that is a matter for my colleagues rather than me.

Plenary, 17 Nov 2005

Official Report Meeting date: 25 October 2005

Subordinate Legislation Committee, 25 Oct 2005

Are we not going to ask the legal adviser for her opinion? As well as the specific point, there is a general issue to ask about.
Official Report Meeting date: 25 October 2005

European and External Relations Committee, 25 Oct 2005

I am glad that the agriculture and fisheries council has eventually submitted its report. I wanted to raise a point to do with pre-council scrutiny that will probably come up in other documents.
Official Report Meeting date: 6 October 2005

Plenary, 06 Oct 2005

As I said in my initial response, ministerial colleagues and I are working closely with UK ministers and we support their efforts to retain the flexibility of the opt-out. On the member's point about Ayr hospital, the Commission's proposals on clarifying on-call time and the timing of compensatory rest might go some way towards meeting the concerns that he ...
Official Report Meeting date: 7 September 2005

Plenary, 07 Sep 2005

Karen Whitefield makes a valuable point about the role and place of victims and witnesses in the judicial system.
Official Report Meeting date: 30 June 2005

Plenary, 30 Jun 2005

I suggest to the member that at the moment land is being rented and leased more frequently, which ensures that people engage in agricultural activity and that at the same time the land is maintained to the standard that is required for farmers to qualify for payments. However, I take the member's point that we must monitor what happens in the area.
