I have asked Tony Cameron,Chief Executive of the Scottish Prison Service to respond. His response is asfollows:£4,250, excluding legalcosts and interest for claims citing “slopping out” among the contributoryfactors.
The Executive does not manage the care of people with communications impairments directly. The planning and provision of services is a matter for NHS boards based on their assessment of local needs.
The police and the Crown Office and Procurator Fiscal Service treat all such incidents seriously, and will take action where it is in the public interest to do so.

The Executive has set aside up to £1 million to pilot the use of electronic monitoring services in these schemes which are designed to reduce offending on bail.
