The SNP wants to see the Parliament debate the cumulative effect of the many changes that are taking place in the national health service in Scotland, their impact on services and whether the Executive has adopted and put in place an appropriate strategic overview. The changes include the new deal for junior doctors, new consultants' contracts, new general practitioners' contracts, the European working time directive, acute service reviews and a framework for maternity services.

I thank the clerks for their analysis and I thank the convener for sending it to me. As I say in my letter, paragraph 7 of that analysis says that "Scottish Executive" and "Scottish Ministers" are statutory terms and are synonymous.It makes sense to pursue the issue.
