In the current year we haveincreased the Communities Scotland development programme in the ScottishBorders by 39% to £3.9 million, which will fund 69 new or improved affordablehomes. Communities Scotland is also working closely with Scottish BordersCouncil in support of its strategic housing role.

To ask the Scottish Executive what impact its job-si'ing exercise will have on promoted secondary teacher postholders. The new job-sizing system has been implemented in accordance with the terms of the agreement A Teaching Profession for the 21st Century.
To ask the Scottish Executive what plans it has to introduce new drugs courts across Scotland. As the Partnership Agreement states, we will use the model of drugs courts across Scotland where they are needed.
To ask the Scottish Executive how many proposals it has received from local authorities in respect of the new round of approvals for schemes for school rebuilding and refurbishment and how many such proposals seek to utilise not-for-profit trusts as the vehicle for the development.

Following discussion between the brigade and HM Chief Inspector of Fire Services, it was concluded, on the basis of the information available, that there was not a clear case for a new station at Alness and further evaluation was required.
