In some parts of Scotland—particularly in the major cities—people with responsibility in local authorities need to work co-operatively using the existing powers, taking into consideration the best interests of the community. Unfortunately, there is no easy solution.

In welcoming the minister's answer, I ask whether she is aware that dozens of homeless people from local authority areas outside Glasgow are being placed—if not dumped—in one particular establishment in my constituency without adequate support and that, consequently, Strathclyde police attribute most of the local crime to those people? Surely, that is not best practice; surely, it is unacceptable practice.

The funding was enhanced further by the additional £4 million.We will continue to keep a close watch on what is needed, but we must ensure that the money that is allocated is used to best effect. Both the Minister for Justice and I hope to return to the issue in the near future.
