Official Report Meeting date: 20 January 2005

Plenary, 20 Jan 2005

We are monitoring that closely, and we are working extremely hard to resolve the situation. In brief response, I point out that the problem is one of retention.
Official Report Meeting date: 27 October 2004

Education Committee, 27 Oct 2004

Do members have any comments to make on the summary report on the responses to the phase 1 consultation, which is entitled "getting it right for every child", and on the initial information coming out of the review? Quite a lot of interesting points have been made. Do members have any observations?
Official Report Meeting date: 7 October 2004

Plenary, 07 Oct 2004

When we announce the full package of efficiency savings Mr McLetchie might regret raising the topic, because it will show just how efficient we are determined to be. The key point that Mr McLetchie made in his first statement was that a tight financial settlement necessarily leads to increases in council tax or reduction in front-line services.

That is a good point...
Official Report Meeting date: 20 May 2004

Plenary, 20 May 2004

The Executive is taking the matter seriously in responding to antisocial behaviour and in terms of liquor licensing and the services that—as Richard Lochhead rightly points out—need attention. Does the minister agree that resources are all-important in this area?
Official Report Meeting date: 29 April 2004

Plenary, 29 Apr 2004

Is the minister content that there are mechanisms in place to ensure that any deer carcase that has not been gralloched immediately will be condemned as being unfit for human consumption? That important point is why, in calling for a separate report, we have sought not only veterinary advice but the advice of the Food Standards Agency.
Official Report Meeting date: 2 March 2004

European and External Relations Committee, 02 Mar 2004

Members should feel free to feed back comments to the clerks during the next few weeks. I have just a few points to bring to the attention of the five members of the committee who make up the delegation.
Official Report Meeting date: 26 February 2004

Plenary, 26 Feb 2004

The Labour Party's position was very clear in the election last year: we advocated a reformed council tax that would spread the bands more fairly so that people who could afford to pay more would do so and those who are currently in the lower bands would no...
