Official Report Meeting date: 16 June 2005

Plenary, 16 Jun 2005

Should we trust the police or councillors on this one? That is a valid point. From some of the recent discussion about what has been happening on Beach Boulevard in Aberdeen, I know that the police are taking effective action and that that action is supported by the local community.
Official Report Meeting date: 2 June 2005

Plenary, 02 Jun 2005

I cannot say that we had deep discussions about it, but we intend to return to all sorts of discussions in the future. On the point about representation, I am of course satisfied that Scotland is well represented in Europe, not least because Scottish ministers lead the UK delegation at council meetings, as I did last week in Brussels.
Official Report Meeting date: 10 May 2005

Subordinate Legislation Committee, 10 May 2005

If that last line of our paper is in the Executive's own words, we should pursue the matter. My point is much the same. I asked last week what advice had been sought from the Commission because I find it inconceivable that a method of fee arrangement that did not fit neatly into either of the two existing guidance systems or mirror what had been provided fo...
Official Report Meeting date: 4 May 2005

Plenary, 04 May 2005

Will the minister recommend to us how we can guarantee continued investment in those vital services? I point out that it is the Conservative mob that proposes cuts on such a massive scale.
Official Report Meeting date: 4 May 2005

Plenary, 04 May 2005

On the second issue, I express support for the point that Duncan McNeil makes. I believe that urban regeneration companies are a suitable vehicle for the regeneration of areas such as Inverclyde and beyond.
Official Report Meeting date: 21 April 2005

Plenary, 21 Apr 2005

I am sure that Maureen Macmillan agrees that we never like to see compulsory redundancies in any situation. It is fair to point out that funding decisions are for the Scottish Further Education Funding Council's independent judgment without political interference, but to support its recovery plan, Inverness College has received a long-term advance of £1.5 m...
Official Report Meeting date: 10 March 2005

Plenary, 10 Mar 2005

I welcome the First Minister's comments. However, I should point out that replica weapons are as much of a problem as air-guns in our society.
Official Report Meeting date: 2 March 2005

Public Petitions Committee, 02 Mar 2005

The Executive will review the position after the 2007 elections; it makes the reasonable and valid point that a change in the system could be regarded as handing devolved functions back to a UK body.
Official Report Meeting date: 2 March 2005

Public Petitions Committee, 02 Mar 2005

We can certainly ask the Equal Opportunities Committee to look into the specific points. I agree with what has been said.
Official Report Meeting date: 26 January 2005

Justice 1 Committee, 26 Jan 2005

As things stand, the Executive has an open mind on the petition, although members will see from the correspondence that at this point it is not abundantly clear which aspects of the petition the Executive will act on.It is open to the committee to push the matter further if members so wish.
