Rhoda Grant will be aware that the applicants have lodged an appeal on a point of law. That went to the Court of Session on 22 March and a date has not yet been set for the appeal.
I ask the minister to add anything that he wishes to add and formally to move the motion. The points that I have just made carry into this part of the process.
I agree that we should ask them for their comments because I think that we have missed the point a little. There is a most incredible statement in the briefing paper:"Details of the aftercare services currently provided by local authorities to any ex-prisoner who requests them within 12 months of release are supplied."
Although there is no plenary business for the week that begins on 20 May, I emphasise that that week is not a recess week. It is important to make that point in view of recent media coverage.
I was able to give a positive response to the points that the campaign's representatives raised, although I am still pursuing some of the detailed questions that they asked.
