To ask the Scottish Executive when it plans to announce the appointment of a new Chief Inspector of Prisons. Her Majesty has been pleased to appoint Very Rev Dr Andrew McLellan as HM Chief Inspector of Prisons, in succession to Mr Clive Fairweather.
This is a matter for the City of Edinburgh Council. However, I understand that the new bus station should be open to the public in the autumn of this year.

To ask the Scottish Executive which local authorities have been given approval through their capital expenditure plans in each of the last three years to construct new waste incinerators. The Executive has no role in the approval of local authorities' capital expenditure plans.
The Scottish Arts Council are at present devising the detailed criteria for the new programme which will guide their allocation of the available funds.

To ask the Scottish Executive what representations it has made to the Gaelic Broadcasting Committee to ensure that a daily news output remains part of the Gaelic television schedule.
