Members of the Steering Group to consider the Review of Councils for Voluntary Service were selected for their individual expertise and knowledge of the topic to be covered by the review, and their knowledge of the work of the voluntary sector.
To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will widen the remit of the administration of medicines working group to include consideration of the support available in schools for any pupils with health problems. The School Health Service already provides support in schools for pupils with health care needs including the promotion of the physical, mental and social wellbeing of children within the school setting; the identification and provision of remedial action and support for children with health problems; and the assessment and provision of services for pupils with special educational needs.
To ask the Scottish Executive whether it will detail the current availability and provision of specialised mental health information and advice services, and its plans for future provisions.
To ask the Scottish Executive what percentage of the Domestic Abuse Service Development Fund has been pledged towards projects aimed at changing youth attitudes regarding rape and violence against women.
In addition, there are some 20 or so staff in the Scottish Executive Health Department's Chief Scientist Office with responsibility for encouraging and supporting research to improve the health of the people of Scotland, and the services provided by the National Health Service.

I refer Ms Ullrich to my answer of 9 February 2000 to Mrs Margaret Jamieson (S1W-737) announcing additional funding of £150,000 to support outreach cochlear implantation services across Scotland. There are no plans at present to establish outreach centres.

The Executive will be consulting relevant local authorities and other interested parties on the scope of these wider powers, including whether they shall extend to the support of ferry services. S1W-04507
To ask the Scottish Executive what impact the new NHS self-insurance fund will have on staff and patients with claims against the National Health Service. The primary purpose of the scheme is to enhance existing financial risk sharing arrangements and to improve risk management performance.

The consultants, Eglinton Management, were formally appointed on 13 September to undertake the review of the Councils of Voluntary Service. Their final report was issued for consultation on 15 November, with responses due by the end of 1999.

A working group is being set up to identify the minimum datasets relating to staff health and safety which should be established at Trust/practice level that will directly inform management and organisations of the service both at local and national level.
