The new health initiative, which was launched by the New Opportunities Fund (NOF) on 22 September 1999, covers cancer prevention, detection, treatment and care.We believe that an emphasis on prevention, using the additional funding from the NOF initiative to complement our health promotion and prevention drive to stop people getting cancer in the first place, would provide the greatest benefit for Scotland's health.
