I have asked Tony Cameron, Chief Executive of the Scottish Prison Service to respond. His response is as follows:-"The Scottish Prison Service is currently conducting a review of the Estate with a view to meeting operational requirements over the next ten years.
The Scottish Executive is in discussion with telecommunications companies over their roll out plans for broadband services. We are considering with Highlands and Islands Enterprise what steps need to be taken to ensure business Internet users in the Highlands have access to broadband services.
The Social Work Services Inspectorate will be reviewing progress on all the recommendations in Sensing Progress through its annual visits to local authorities and will report on this in its annual report for 2001.
Information on action being taken on the backlog of cases is given in the Scottish Legal Services Ombudsman's Annual Report 1999 (at paragraphs 2.5 to 2.7), which was published on 7 June 2000.
To ask the Scottish Executive what plans it has to increase support to community pharmacists providing services to drug misusers, including security measures such as installation of panic buttons, CCTV and prominent alarm boxes.
The Scottish Executive funding of £5 million for local authority in-service special educational needs staff development and training is for all aspects of special educational needs.
