I have asked Tony Cameron, Chief Executive of the Scottish Prison Service to respond. His response is as follows: The Scottish Prison Service sees no need to do so as this is entirely a matter for the company.
Yes, as a result of the success of the Scottish Ambulance Service's paramedic training programme, the service has more paramedics than technicians and now has the staffing mix to be able to deploy a paramedic-led response to all calls that require such a response.

In Scotland, NHS Quality Improvement Scotland has published standards on the provision of safe and effective primary medical services in the out-of-hours period. Providers of out-of-hours primary medical services are required to meet these standards.
