That was brought home to me last Friday when I visited a school in Aberdeen. Groups of children had to give a presentation on an issue and one little boy—he was in primary 6—talked about midwifery services.
I realise that outside organisations are not part of our remit but, at a later stage, we could discuss—perhaps with the Procedures Committee—how best to help them to be part of the process.
Angus MacKay's letter says that the Executive considers options in private and proposes the options that it thinks are the best, but that it will not set out options for us.

We are committed to ensuring that all children get the best possible start in life. Early intervention like the Sure Start Scotland programme will enable them to make the most of subsequent opportunities including pre-school education.
