The Police, Public Order and Criminal Justice (Scotland) Bill will create a new authority that will provide independent oversight of the fingerprint service within the new forensic science service for Scotland.I announced last week that I had asked Deputy Chief Constable David Mulhern, the interim chief of the proposed Scottish police services authority, to submit by the end of March an action plan for the migration of the Scottish fingerprint service into the new Scottish forensic science service from April 2007.
