The Inshore Fishing (Prohibited Methods of Fishing) (Firth of Lorn) Order 2007 (SSI 2007/186) was laid before the Scottish Parliament on 7 March 2007. Article 1, "Citation and commencement", states:"This Order … shall come into force on 12 March 2007."
We recognise the logic of progressing it alongside crofting reform and new opportunities for forestry land to be used for affordable housing, which will be the subject of the announcement that will be made on Monday.
It is simply opposed to the delivery of the new resources that we want to have in place in the area's schools, and its members will find any excuse to undermine that.
I am happy to accept Irene Oldfather's invitation, and to inform members that there are now more than 5,000 new primary teachers trained to deliver foreign language teaching in primary 6 and primary 7.
As the amendment recognises, subsection (10) should have referred instead to subsection (7). Mr Matheson is absolutely correct in picking up that point.
