It would be helpful to have a standing adviser on the budget. As a new member of the Justice 2 Committee when it was reconstituted last year, I found it helpful to have Professor Main to advise us on the budget, as he had a degree of knowledge and expertise that many committee members did not have.

Schools throughout Scotland have and are required to have anti-bullying policies in place. A range of new, good practices are being implemented across Scotland's schools to bear down on the problem and to eliminate it wherever it arises.
In addition, we work with a range of partners to support commercialisation of world-class research from Scottish universities, to promote new renewable technologies, and on other relevant issues.
We have decided to take evidence from the Minister for Transport and from the Strategic Rail Authority on developments in the rail network in Scotland and we could ask them questions not only about Laurencekirk station, but about the principle of reopening services.One of our predecessor committees—the Transport and the Environment Committee—indicated in its inquiry into the rail industry that new stopping services should be considered as part of improvements to the rail network.
