To me, this is an issue of principle and an issue of best practice in a new structure. My fear, which a number of members share, is that the practice of behind-closed-doors meetings, specifically those of the Parliamentary Bureau and the horse-trading that goes on there, is not in the best interests of members of the Parliament or in the best interests of the broadest concepts of democracy.

(S2O-938) We have only recently received the appeal judgment in the Transco case and the Lord Advocate and I will need to study it in detail before reaching any decision on whether new legislation is required. In the written determination that was issued last week in the case of Transco v the Lord Advocate, the court clearly states that, although penalties exist in health and safety legislation, if this Parliament and the courts are to be able to prosecute for corporate culpable homicide, we will have to legislate.Given the strong feelings in my constituency following the deaths of the Findlay family, will the minister agree to meet me to discuss how best we can take forward the determination and the changes that are required as a result of it?
