To ask the Scottish Executive whether there is any shortage of capacity at the Scottish Cervical Cytology Training School in Edinburgh and, if so, what impact any such shortage will have on the roll-out of the liquid-based cytology screening programme. A Service Level Agreement (SLA) is in place between the National Services Division of the Common Services Agency and Lothian University Hospital NHS Trust for the provision of training for cervical cytology laboratory staff at the Scottish Cervical Cytology Training School.
