Local Plans (Environmental Designations) (PE975) Our next new petition is PE975, from Malcolm Ouldcott, which calls on the Scottish Parliament to legislate to ensure that local authorities consider all environmental designations—in particular, areas of great landscape value—when they produce new local plans.

The recently passed Licensing (Scotland) Act 2005 and the Antisocial Behaviour etc (Scotland) Act 2004 introduced new powers in that area, in addition to the powers local authorities already had, but the petitioner clearly feels that something else needs to be done.
