Local Plans (Environmental Designations) (PE975) Petition PE975, by Malcolm Ouldcott, calls on the Scottish Parliament to legislate to ensure that local authorities consider all environmental designations—in particular, areas of great landscape value—when they produce new local plans. At its meeting on 27 September 2006, the committee agreed to seek views on the petition from the Scottish Executive, Scottish Natural Heritage and Historic Scotland, and to seek the petitioner's views on the responses.Does the committee agree that, as a review of national planning policy guideline 14 is already planned, the case for legislating to ensure that local authorities consider all environmental designations when they produce new local plans does not appear to have been made, and that as the petitioner's primary concern appears to be with Scottish Borders Council's local plan, there is not much that we can do?
