I thought that the case for continuing to use them without a new order was pretty thin, so I am delighted to see the new legislative proposals, which are a proper basis for proceeding.
The Commission is pushing quite strongly for at least part of the funding in the new period—not only in Scotland but elsewhere—to be used innovatively, not just to add to the budgets of domestic policy organisations but to try new things.

To ask the Scottish Executive what impact the Department of Trade and Industry’s responsibility for reaching a justification decision on new nuclear power stations would have on the power of the Scottish minister with responsibility for planning to stop the building of new nuclear power stations in Scotland.
This will look at thenumber of new trains required and potential costs for all of our projects,including EARL, and passenger growth initiatives from 2009 onwards.A completed plan will beproduced for consideration by Transport Scotland later in 2006.
New frameworks for progressive specialty training, including those for general practice, are being developed across the UK administrations in partnership with the NHS, the BMA, the relevant statutory authorities and with our Medical Royal Colleges.
