The Scottish House Condition Survey (SHCS) provides a national estimate (generally every five years) - the latest of which, for 1996, gave an estimate of 27,000 BTS dwellings in Scotland.
I should also point out that, in April 1999, the number of police officers in Scotland was 14,784; the latest figure is 14,948. For me, and by any standard, that is an increase.
