In its written evidence on the bill, the Commission for Racial Equality pointed out that the Scottish ministers have a duty to promote racial equality and are required to make an assessment of the likely impact of new policies on the promotion of racial equality.

I may have participated in fewer visits than some of my colleagues, but on those visits to other parts of Scotland I heard people give clear examples of how the current law is not delivering safe communities.
