As far as I can see, the purpose of the pre-emptive right to buy is to ensure that we do not get a situation in which a tenant farmer wakes up one morning to a knock on the door from a new landlord, who is waiting to introduce himself.

The Convener of the Holyrood Progress Group has informed me that the reference in The Herald newspaper of 26 September 2000 was to the tender documentation relating to the external cladding of the MSP building.
What is the point of fixing things if people do not get their services delivered? We must get more information from members about what they are interested in and then think about which authorities we should visit and what the timetable will be.
Even that will not be enough on its own. We therefore decided on two new prisons. The first will be built and run by the private sector, to get the new places quickly and to address the current overcrowding, especially for remand prisoners.
I am not saying that that happens seven days a week, but it happens. When people get used to a home help or a carer, they are spun round when a home help organiser comes up with a new plan to cover their area.
The age profile of our farming communities is a worry. However, I hope that the new tenancy arrangements will make it easier for new entrants to get into farming.
