These include: the free educational visits scheme at Historic Scotland properties which attracts 66,000 school visits per year;the provision of children’s trails and displays at some of their larger sites;a range of events to encourage participation by young people including storytelling, re-enactments and jousting;the provision of five education officers across Scotland who work closely with schools and youth groups on programmes for young people to learn about the built environment;working closely with community groups, local councils and other agencies to involve young people in the appreciation of the historic environment;the provision of online resources for teachers and young people to promote interest in the historic environment, andthe provision of a range of activities for young people which supports national campaigns such as the Big Draw, Scottish Archaeology Month and the Construction Industry Training Board’s National Construction Week.
