The pay negotiations for nursery nurses are a matter between the employers and the trade unions that represent the employees. I am pleased that deals have been agreed in some parts of the country and urge all those still involved in negotiations—or who are not yet at the table—to reach a speedy conclusion.

My other point is the general one that we do not calculate fares for other forms of public transport on the basis of a comparison with what it costs to drive between two places. I am pleased that the reporters think that they should consider a road equivalent tariff and that it should be considered seriously.
