To ask the Scottish Executive whether it requires Dumfries and Galloway Council to provide public toilet facilities in Langholm for users of the A7. No, section 26 of the Local Government and Planning (Scotland) Act 1982 states that local authorities may provide and maintain public toilets but lays no statutory obligation upon them to do so.
