Members should have an updated version of the paper with a new paragraph 5. The committee will see that the members' interests order currently states that members should not do anything in their capacity as an MSP in any proceedings of the Parliament in return for payment.The committee will recall that, when we discussed our proposals for a new paid advocacy provision, we agreed that we did not want to specify prohibited activities such as lodging motions or lodging parliamentary questions, as that might create a loophole in respect of something that we had not mentioned.
