As far as the situation in Scotland is concerned, I can reassure not only Mr Wilson, but the whole Parliament, that the increase in funding for the police next year will be £44.6 million—6 per cent higher than this year's allocation—and that in May last year, when I announced an £8.9 million increase for police recruitment, the number of police officers was 14,699, whereas the latest figures show an increase to 14,870.

The history of the situation is that predominantly school buses tend to be used off-peak to enhance local bus services, whereas the commercial fleet is quite new and modern.
