To ask the Scottish Executive what plans it has for further investigation of the actions of Tayside Fire Brigade in connection with the fire at 13 Cardean, Dundee on 26 November 1997. I have asked HM Chief Inspector of Fire Services for Scotland, Mr Dennis Davis, to undertake an investigation with the following terms of reference:to review the handling by Tayside Fire Brigade of the incident at 13 Cardean Street, Dundee, on the night of 26 November 1997, taking into account previous inquiries and reports which are relevant to this;to consider the operational and other issues arising;to assess the extent to which any operational and other deficiencies have been remedied; andto make recommendations.Mr Davis will begin his investigation on 5 June and expects to be able to complete it in time for his report to be published during September.I hope that the outcome of this investigation will enable all concerned to feel that all aspects of this tragic event and its aftermath have been thoroughly explored, and that action to avoid repetition of such events has been taken or put in hand.
