*S5M-20276 Alison Johnstone: New Future for Community Farm Site—That the Parliament understands that Gorgie City Farm was one of the last urban farms in Scotland and provided volunteering opportunities and support to disadvantaged young people and adults, including those with additional support needs; notes with regret that the farm went into liquidation in November 2019; recognises that the local community has been determined to ensure that the values and work of Gorgie City Farm continue, as evidenced by £100,000 being raised by a Go Fund Me page established by a former employee of the farm; welcomes the news that a new operation is likely to open on the site, and that three bidders have been shortlisted to take over, with the successful bidder due to be announced in January 2020; believes that the new operator of the site should ensure that it continues to be widely and easily accessible to the community, play an educational role in helping people learn more about agriculture and offer volunteering opportunities, and looks forward to the reopening of site to the public in Spring 2020.
