The Subordinate Legislation Committee has drawn the order to our attention on the ground that the inconsistency in the drafting approach to the order is such that, in the view of that committee, it could be considered to be drafted defectively. The latest reporting date on the matter for the Health and Community Care Committee is 10 March.

(S2O-04827)Cathy Jamieson: I met with representatives of the Association of Visiting Committees on 6 December last year and advised them of my intention to hold a review of the role of Prison Visiting Committees.
Trish Godman is here as substitute for Alasdair Morrison. Alex Fergusson is visiting the committee and we might have other visiting members during the morning.Under agenda item 1, we have two affirmative instruments to consider.
It may help to consider some of the lessons of the new deal. One of the strongest aspects of the new deal is the single gateway, but some of the details are not so strong.
The committee seems to be unanimous in wishing to encourage the Executive to embark on research that should buy into and dovetail with research that is already taking place.

Of these visits, 72 were made under the Members Support Allowance within the UK or to Brussels/Strasbourg, 46 under the auspices of External Liaison Unit and 42 as committee visits.
The suggestion is that a copy of the latest letter from the minister's office should be passed to the petitioner for his information and that no further action should be taken, on the basis that most of the additional points that the petitioner raises have been answered in the minister's letter.
