To ask the Scottish Executive what representations it has made to the United States of America (USA) regarding the absence of visa facilities at the US Consulate General in Edinburgh; whether it will ensure that representations are made when the President of the USA visits Scotland for the G8 summit, and whether it will report back on progress.
This is the responsibility of the eight Scottish Fire and Rescue Services (FRSs) and is pursued through their programmes of fire safety home visits. In partnership with special interest groups the eight FRSs currently have arrangements in place to install specially designed alarms for the deaf as appropriate.

Officials are working closely with applicants to ensure that all documentation is available at the time of the visit. However, ultimately it is the responsibility of the individual applicants to ensure that all the necessary documentation is to hand.
Concerns related largely to the absence of supporting documentation at the time of the visit, and since provided as part of the Executive’s response to the draft report.
