In the 2021 SNP Manifesto, we committed to the introduction of a new grant of £200 a year for care experienced young people between the ages of 16 and 26 – as part of the Scottish Government’s Promise to those with experience of care.
The First Minister spoke about the latest data. The latest data according to the Scottish Government’s figures show that more than 40 per cent of all children who live in the private rented sector in Scotland are now living in poverty.
That vision is now a reality. The latest analysis shows that Scotland is growing at a rate of 19 per cent, which is well above the UK rate of 12.5 per cent, and almost double the rate of Sweden and the Netherlands.
It is worth observing that the order was made on 26 January and that the Parliament will be in recess from 11 February up to and including 19 February.
I will add a couple of points to the cabinet secretary’s comments. First, when I visit the boards of our island and rural communities, I am struck by the fact that they are at the forefront of attempts to innovate, to work differently and to bring new ways of delivering services to their communities.
