I will use the new royal infirmary as an example. Like others, I have visited the new royal, which is a tremendous and wonderful hospital that I am sure will serve well the people of Lothian and beyond.
As people know, that is estimated to end about a year after the second new prison has opened. We need to obtain the appropriate planning permission to make progress on the new prisons.
That investment has allowed us to recruit more doctors and nurses, to build eight new hospitals in Scotland, to buy the old Health Care International hospital and to start to tackle unacceptably long waiting lists.

Now is a good time to be doing that, despite what Phil Gallie thinks about the new constitution. To my mind, the new constitution's protocols give a role to regional Governments and Parliaments to become involved in the policy-making process.
