As far as the situation in Scotland is concerned, I can reassure not only Mr Wilson, but the whole Parliament, that the increase in funding for the police next year will be £44.6 million—6 per cent higher than this year's allocation—and that in May last year, when I announced an £8.9 million increase for police recruitment, the number of police officers was 14,699, whereas the latest figures show an increase to 14,870.
