I have previously reported on the costs of implementing the new pay agreements and, in exhibit 13 on page 34, I have provided the committee with the Health Department's latest estimate of the additional cost for 2004-05 and 2005-06.
I welcome the chance to come to the committee today particularly because of the timing. Some of you might have heard the news item on "Good Morning Scotland" about the Aberdeen drop-in centre.
We will monitor all the bill's provisions, as we would with any new bill. Again, it is evident from earlier bills that, where there are problems, the new democracy operates by MSPs being asked by their constituents to take the problems into account.
Looking back, one can see that it would have been helpful to those visiting the project after the event if people had articulated what they were about in a formal way at the beginning.
Therefore, I propose to break down the debate on the first group into three mini-debates. The first debate will be on the new offence of paying for sexual services; the second debate will be on the new offences that relate to prostitution; and the third debate will be on the new offences relating to pornography.
