Those additional officers are not appearing in the communities where members of the public live. The Executive has visited many new bureaucratic obligations on our police officers, which keep them in offices and not in our communities.
As people know, that is estimated to end about a year after the second new prison has opened. We need to obtain the appropriate planning permission to make progress on the new prisons.

To ask the Scottish Executive what new crimes have been created since June 1999; how many persons have been charged under each of these crimes and, of these, how many have been convicted.
Brian Monteith, Cathy Peattie and Nicola Sturgeon visited it. Several of the questions that Nicola Sturgeon and I asked this morning came from our visit to Riverside.
Section 198—Removal to place of safety Amendment 799 is grouped with amendments 653, 800, 654, 657 to 661, 803 and 662. Amendment 657 will introduce a new section in new part 15A, relating to entry to premises.
