Yesterday’s letter to the committee set out that the estimated annual cost of the bill would be around £14 million to £19 million in 2025-26 terms. The costs would increase to between £17 million and £23 million in year 5, and the figures are likely to rise annually.
The point is that the body to which the employees transfer does not have to replicate the pension arrangements of the body from which they were transferred.

This has been published alongside the Strategic Plan and this statement on ESS’ website. The executive summary states: Respondents welcomed the establishment of ESS, and there was broad support for the aims and level of ambition set out in the Strategic Plan.
Such situations are very personal, but we envisage people usually taking comfort in being with their loved ones when they die. There needs to be clarity on whether the medical person is to be there, or what happens when they are not but family members are in the room when the self-administration takes place.

To ask the Scottish Government how many terminally-ill people in each year since 1999 who expressed a preference to die at home, died in a hospital setting.
