The £12.2 million to be made available by the Executive and sportscotland towards the implementation of the Action Plan for Youth Football will include £1.2 million of Exchequer funding, £1 million from the Lottery Sports Fund and £6 million from funding made available for community sport from unspent balances of the former New Opportunities Fund.

Membership fees will end on 31 March 2005 with thewinding up of the Area Tourist Boards, and the new funding arrangements which VisitScotlandis discussing with the Executive will come into effect on 1 April. Part of thesediscussions is about the scale of the savings which are expected to result fromachieving efficiencies from network integration.

In 2002-03 and 2003-04, as part of the Facing the Future initiative, the Scottish Executive allocated £1.75 million to NHS boards to be used in addition to existing CPD funding. So far in 2004-05, £1 million has been released to NHS boards for additional CPD.

I also announced that the immediate goal was to deliver efficiency savings of £500 million from the financial year 2007-08, rising to £1 billion by 2010. Our Efficient Government plan will show that we will exceed this target and secure £650 million in efficiency savings by 2007-08.
