The principal mechanism for funding affordable housing is the Communities Scotland Development Programme. His response is as follows:Current projections for 2005-06 indicate a basic design capacity for our estate of about 6,100. In addition, the new houseblocks at Polmont and Edinburgh will have over 200 purpose-designed doubling-up cells giving just over 6,300 available spaces.These figures do not include the anticipated closure of HM Prison Low Moss, the downsizing of HM Prison Barlinnie or the provision of two new 700-place prisons.
