To ask the Scottish Executive what impact the level of fuel prices is having upon the number of visitors to the Highlands and Islands of Scotland this season and what steps it will take to assess this issue. Latest estimates for Scotland as a whole indicate that spend by UK tourists has increased by 13%.

That company has accepted in principle that it is prepared to do that, and we are carrying forward the discussions.On the second point, I am aware that NorthLink rejected the bid by those who proposed a buy-out of the shore-based facilities, which lie outwith the public subsidy contract, and that NorthLink will be putting those services out to tender.

These amendments all add to the bill protection for third parties dealing with an attorney or guardian with powers over heritable property, where there is a problem with the powers granted. If a third party buys property in good faith in those circumstances, they will not have their title to the property challenged.
