S6W-34321 Colin Smyth: To ask the Scottish Government what action it is taking through its draft Budget 2025-26 to increase local access to thrombectomy for people who have had a stroke in Dumfries and Galloway.
The Scottish Government’s own modelling shows that, with £455.6 million of funding in its employability offer over the period 2022-23 to 2025-26, it hopes to help 6,225 into work and a further 2,610 to increase their earnings in work.
According to Public Health Scotland, the difference in life expectancy between the poorest and richest areas is 26 years for men and 22 years for women.
In addition, no action has so far been taken on the latest Scottish Government consultation of 2019 to extend designation to, for example, private care homes.
Has any analysis been done of the impact on the sector of the position before and after the £26 million was allocated? The £26 million is a welcome addition to what the sector perhaps expected before the budget was announced.
My motion also refers to the European day of languages, which has been held on 26 September every year since 2001, raising awareness of Europe’s rich linguistic diversity.
