These have now been resolved and I can announce that the draft Scottish legislation, which will be similar to that planned for England and Wales, will issue for consultation shortly.The aim is that the new provisions, which will include a requirement for the tagging or tattooing of all sheep and goats in Scotland before they leave their holding of birth, will not take effect until 1 January 2001.
