The creation of 700 jobs by Universal Scientific Instruments at Irvine was good news. New investment by SmithKline Beecham, which helped to secure 200 jobs and created 19 more, was also good news.
I will be relatively brief, convener.Karen Gillon admitted that she did not understand the issue. She has until 26 March to annul the instrument, which gives the committee plenty time to hear directly from the industry and to learn about some of the issues.
