I am keen on a four-week period, but it should not be limited. For example, maternity leave is 26 weeks, and members can extend that by another 26 weeks to 52 weeks if they have been employed for a certain amount of time beforehand.
In your speech about the programme for government, when you talked about trying to encourage economic growth, you said that it is the Scottish Government’s mission “to create the best conditions for entrepreneurs to seize the opportunities”—Official Report, 2 June 2021; c 17.
That can be done in committee meetings or at portfolio question time, so I would not worry about the ability to raise issues with me. However, I take the point about having the best formalised structure to update members in a fast-moving situation.
