To ask the Scottish Executive what action is being taken to safeguard the long-term future of the fish processing industry. I announced on 8 March that £1 million will be made available to the processing industry to implement recommendations made in the Scottish Fish Processors' Working Group report.

The number of water meters installed in domestic properties throughout Scotland at the customer's request since the introduction of new charge levels on 1 April 2000 has been 44. The total number of households served by the three water authorities is 2.3 million.
The Chairman of the Joint Board of Scottish Ballet and Scottish Opera met the Deputy Minister for Culture and Sport on 9 May and the Secretary of Scottish Education Executive Department on 1 June. On both occasions issues relating to the future of Scottish Ballet and Scottish Opera were discussed.
To ask the Scottish Executive what progress is being made in developing an area based scheme of Hill Livestock Compensation Allowances to be implemented on 1 January 2001. Proposals for a new Less-Favoured Area based scheme were put to the European Commission in late December as part of the Scottish Executive's Rural Development Plan.
The Scottish Executive provides over £1 million in total to Drug Action Teams in Scotland, to support implementation of the national strategy Tackling Drugs in Scotland: Action in Partnership.

To ask the Scottish Executive what information it has supplied to business ratepayers on the revaluation of non-domestic rates which came into effect on 1 April 2000. The Scottish Executive is producing three explanatory leaflets dealing with various aspects of the Revaluation, including the Appeal Procedure and Transitional Arrangements.
